How to get a free book AND blog traffic!
The folks at Thomas Nelson have a really fantastic idea that is tapping right into the burgeoning blogosphere, especially considering that blogs influence purchases more than even social networking does, by announcing a new book review program for bloggers. This program gives interested bloggers a free copy of the book they are to review, free resources including text and graphics related to the book, and an opportunity for increased traffic when they post a link to your review.
The idea came from an experiment Thomas Nelson did a few months ago:
We offered a free book to anyone who agreed to post a 200-word review on their blog. We started with The Faith of Barack Obama by Stephen Mansfield. We had almost 200 people request books and almost 70% of them posted book reviews.
We were so pleased with the results, we decided to do it again. We offered Through the Storm by Lynne Spears. However, this time we required bloggers to post their review on Amazon in addition to their own site. We had slightly fewer requests and reviews, but we were still pleased with the results. Almost all the reviews were positive.
Bloggers are asked to complete a review of only 200 words, post it to your own blog, and post it to a consumer site like Amazon.com or BarnesAndNoble.com. That’s pretty much it. Get in while they’re still accepting bloggers for this program, as I anticipate traffic will be heavy and they may have to limit the number of people they can include. Check it out at the new Thomas Nelson site dedicated to the Book Review Bloggers program.
