Instructional Category. Winner. Road Bike Maintenance by Guy Andrews.
Instructional Category. Honorable Mention. Whitewater Kayaking by Ken Whiting & Kevin Varette.

More details about the winners can be found at the NOBA website.

And it just so happens that I helped to edit one of them! It was a bear of a book, but rewarding to help pull together, even though my footprint on it was relatively low compared to the others who edited it. But it’s fantastic to see the book up there, mainly because the brand/company I work for is recognized four times! It’s so nice to be recognized as a brand that produces excellent outdoor recreation books. It’s days like these that I fully appreciate what I do!

I’m a budgeoning writer who’s specialty is writing about wilderness. This may be a silly question but do these books have to be written entirely outside or can some of it be done indoors? I don’t know allot of people that use pen and paper any more. Technically a laptop can go outdoors but eventally it has to be charged so I’m not sure if that will count.

The National Outdoor Book Award actually awards books written about the outdoors (hiking, camping, cycling, etc.). Wilderness may fall into the Nature genre, but it depends. If it’s Hiking through the Wilderness, it could fall into Outdoor Recreation.
